Birth control?

So i’m 17 and looking at different types of contraception not only for birth control but to somewhat control my period. I’ve looked at the pill but was wondering if i could get any advice or recommendations?

I’m 17. I started the pill when I was 14, and it was okay. I gained some weight but I was underweight to start. It was a bitch and a half if I’m being 100% honest. Always having to bring your pills with you, if there’s any chance you won’t be home at 5pm or whenever you’ve chosen? Knowing that you still have to take your pills and try if you’re sick, but also have to use a condom anyway? What a headache. 
Now I’m on the shot, and I couldn’t be happier. It hurts a bit, like someone poked you with a safety pin. Then it’s sore for a day or two. That’s it. It’s a little more expensive outright but it’s $60+$30 (appt fee) for 3 months on this or it was $65 for 1 month on my pills. It’s much cheaper in the long run, but that’s not a problem if you have insurance that’s worth half a damn. I haven’t had any issues with weight gain, acne, mood swings, or periods. It’s been 6 months and my periods are almost completely gone, have been since the first 6 weeks or so of the first shot. 
You should definitely go over options with your doctor. If you’re not worried about the pills as a contraceptive, they’ll absolutely regulate or get rid of your periods. If you already take medication on a schedule and you’re used to it, I’m sure that’ll be fine too. But if you’re not good with pills, look into the shot, implant, or something else a little lower maintenance.

I’m 17 and on the pill I started taking not because I’m sexually active yet but because my period was and honestly still is irregular so I would recommend the pill to control ur periods but i did experience some really bad side effects and my emotional mood swings get super bad during PMS like right before my period so make sure to talk to ur doctor about any side effects especially emotional I’ve been on 2 different types of pill I think and the first pill I HATED it made me feel dis-attached from everything and Everyone which I had never felt beforehand and once I switched pills the mood swings were better except for about 2 weeks before each period where I feel dis-attached and either am unresponsive or over responsive to little things. Also keep in mind to take it correctly, since quarantine I keep forgetting to take my pill because I’m either asleep or too lazy to get up 😂 so now my periods r all messed up again so just keep in mind for it to work correctly u HAVE to take at the same time everyday.
