Wake up breastfeeding newborn during day to eat?

Do you wake up your newborn (mine is 5 weeks) from naps during the day to breastfeed so they don't go longer than 3 hours from the start of one feeding to the next? I've been doing it as I've heard it will help night sleep but am not sure if I'm ruining his sleep as he still struggles at night.

I follow Taking cara babies and she teaches this. The reasoning to waking them is to get good awake time during the day and to also make sure they eat enough throughout the day so at night they can go longer without eating so you’re not up very 3 hours feeding.

Everything I’ve read says their day sleep doesn’t affect their night sleep. If anything, they will sleep better at night if they sleep more during the day because the baby won’t be overtired/fussy.

I only ever woke him up if he hit 4 hours and that’s what the paediatrician told me to do xx￼
