We made it to one year! When Alex was born we didn’t know IF we would get to celebrate one year with him. He has a genetic disorder that complicates many of his biological systems, and the first year was as difficult as they (docs and other parents) promised. We cried many tears, and had so many moments of utter fear and exhaustion. But we made it and our little guy is so full of Joy, despite all his challenges. Instead of focusing on the things he is NOT doing compared to peers, we focus on his accomplishments- he can hold his head up, he laughs and interacts with us, he grabs for toys and brings them to his mouth, he says mamama, he LOVES his 2 (almost 3) year old sister, and he smiles at least 1000x/day. He’s such a Blessing to our family and everyone he meets.
