When should I start taking opks in my cycle?

It’s cd 12 and i started using opks today. It showed low fertility. I am not that sure how they work & instead of reading a bunch of articles the women on here will give the best advice & tips. So when in my cycle should I begin using opks and how many times a day should I test? And what time of the day is optimal?

I highlighted the most important parts. Start now but if you don’t fall pregnant this cycle, next cycle you may want to start on day 10. Order the easy @home strips and download the pre mom app. Which ever times you pick, stick with them daily. My two times are 11am and 8pm

I used them for 10 cycles before this pregnancy. 
I started by taking them about 5 days after my period ended but then I missed an ovulation window. After the 3rd month I began taking them beginning the day after my period ended, in the afternoon around 1:30. When the line started getting a little darker/when glow said I was approaching my window I would test twice a day (9am and 6pm). I used the Easy@Home tests from Amazon and downloaded the app that they work really well with and loved them. 
It was a lot of pee sticks but worth it for my rainbow. 
I know you said you’d rather not read but I highly recommend the book The Fifth Vital Sign to learn about naturally regulating and getting to know your cycle.

If you are using the clearblue digitals, its very important you start them on the suggested day in the instructions based  on your average cycle length.
