Can anyone make a case for spanking?
My husband and I are excepting. I am an early childhood teacher and believe if I can discipline hundreds of children over the course of a few years of my job WITHOUT using physical punishment then I can apply those skills to disciplining my own children. I believe that spanking is unnecessary and that it hurts children both emotionally and developmentally when the person they are supposed to trust that is supposed to love them most in the world harms them physically. I believe it gives them trust issues and teaches children to act out aggressively when they are angry. My husband agrees. But I don’t think his retired military father would, so I would like to hear the other side of the debate in case I ever have to defend my beliefs against him.
