Toddler and 2nd Baby Advice

We're trying to decide how to handle my toddler the week baby is born. He is 16 months old. My MIL has offered to keep him for the week but I just have this fear that when he comes home he'll feel like he's been replaced or that baby has taken over everything. Maybe I'm projecting my own fear of feeling that I won't be able to give him enough attention. What have any 3rd time mommas (or if you're having your 2nd) what have you done or are planning to do? Ideally I'd like my toddler to be able to meet baby when we come home and then maybe go with MIL for a day or two rather than the whole week. My mom will be staying with us to help me while I recover. Thoughts?
