Am I wasting my time?

Do you all believe in 2nd chances after 3 years of cheating? My ex wants to work things out and I do to but my family thinks I’m stupid for even wanting to. Our relationship was very toxic. I went through his phone all the time, he cheated all the time, we broke up continuously and was just always against each other but together. Now that we finally know what we want, we want to start over and do things the right way. I forgave him for all of the cheating. He wants us to get married and we already have kids. There’s nothing more that I want in life than a family with my kids and him. I just want to give it a try and see how things will work out this time. Does it seem like I’m wasting my time?
