Tips on getting my LO to sit on the potty?

Any tips for getting my daughter to sit on the potty?
She is so scared and won’t sit on the potty :(

I mean this to be helpful: my tip is to wait until she is ready.  No judgement in trying to do this early. It just isn't worth the stress on you or your child.

Please wait. This is very early. If your kiddo were showing all the signs of readiness and was eager to proceed it might be reasonable to slowly start the process. But that’s obviously not the case. Your kiddo is telling you she’s not ready.

I’d wait on putting her on the toilet if she’s scared so she doesn’t end up hating he toilet when she’s older. However you can always show her that the toilet isn’t scary by you going to the bathroom. My 1 year old son always barges in on me or my husband going to the bathroom 🤦🏻‍♀️ so he started to gain interest in the toilet. I didn’t plan on potty training until after 2 if he was interested but this kid is such a copy cat. So we bought him a seat to go on top of the toilet bowl and he loves it. He successfully hasn’t had a poopy diaper in 3 weeks. He runs to the bathroom and points at the toilet when he has to go poop. He still goes pee in his diaper but I’m not trying to force that on him. Kind of just letting him figure things out on his own. All of this to say, some kids learn well by example. So maybe start with that. Best of luck ❤️😊

I’ve waited until 2 or a little past with my 3 older kids. They were ready, but still needed help with their pants. I put my little guy on the toilet once in a while before he goes into the bath and he just stares at me like I’m a nutso 🤪 He doesn’t understand to do anything once he’s on it because he’s just so little. I would definitely wait if yours is scared! Get them their own and keep it out so they can see it and get used to it before they actually have to use it. When they’re ready for it, they’ll let you know by their interest in it. Include them on your bathroom trips when feasible too.

If she’s scared I wouldn’t be pushing it. I mean that as gently as possible. It’ll make it harder in the long run.
