Should I be worried about this medication?

My doctor prescribed me an antibiotic called Ciprofloxacin. It came with a warning saying that it could cause pernament tendon damage or tendon rupture. I have only taken one so far and I am scared to take anymore. The doctor never explained any of this to me. It also quadrupals the chance of getting tendon damage.

Your doctor must have believed the benefits outweigh the risks. I would keep taking it and only stop and call them if you have pain

A lot of medications have serious side effects. It's not a guarantee you'll get them though. If you're that worried ask your doctor if there's really nothing else you can take, otherwise you're going to have to take it and hope for the best.

The inserts are to say anything and everything . You were prescribed this specific antibiotic for a reason, so you need to take it . If you ha e concerns call your pharmacy

Literally every single thing that ever came up while someone was taking that medication has to be listed on the safety label. Your eyeball pops out? On the label. You are allergic to grass and go roll around in the grass while you’re taking it? On the label. You commit suicide while taking it even though you talked about milking yourself for years? On the label.
My point is, it’s super unlikely you’re going to have an issue. Bring it up with your doctor if you’re that concerned about it.

Alright.  I NEVER would comment on a post like this normally.  But I feel so strongly against anything in this family of drugs.  I would highly recommend asking your doctor for a substitute drug.  Because there are other options!!!!   I have suffered irreparable damages from taking many, many rounds of this.  It’s a very commonly prescribed antibiotic.  And there are alternatives.

You should talk to your doctor and ask for a switch. I had a bad experience with  cipro. I couldn't finish the whole course. I couldn't sleep, pains all over my joints.. Then few days later I couldn't bend my knee fully. I couldn't squad or put weight on it. It went on for like a year. I've been to the orthopedic and he confirmed that the antibiotic caused it. Now, this is only my experience, it doesn't mean you will get it too. My moms bf had a simmilar reaction and he couldn't walk properly for like a month. I'm not trying to scare you, this is my story.
