Would this upset you?

Question

My husband was keeping a hidden gun in our home as a favor to his dad! He never asked me nor discuss with me to see how I felt about it and we have our toddler son running around our home. It wasn’t completely locked away but it also wasn’t easily accessible. Especially not to kids. 
What upsets me the most is that this was kept from me. 
When I started getting upset about it he stated it wasn’t a big deal and he had it under control. Was he being deceitful? I don’t know I’m so upset and confused I could use some clarity right about now..

I wouldn’t be upset that it was a gun but I would be upset that he hid it from me and didn’t simply let me know. Hiding thing in a relationship isn’t healthy rather it be a big deal to him or not

Nope i wouldn’t he upset as my husband and I have a lot of guns. We just make sure the kids can’t get them. We also teach them gun safety. I’m a country girl so I was raised with guns.

Absolutely unacceptable. In my case, it could have gone to live with the other guns he has at his gun club. We do not keep guns in our home, and if we did, they would be locked up and both adults would be aware of them.

I would absolutley be upset that the matter was not discussed with me beforehand. 100%. Its your home and you and your children live in it...you should've been made aware at the minimum.
That being said I have more questions and issues...
Is the gun he has registered to his father or is it an illegal gun? Does your state require you to have a permit or register any firearms in your possession? If so...by even having the gun in your home you could be looking at a serious charge if caught.
Also, the weapon should absolutley be secured using all means necessary. For a firearm not in use that means secured in a safe, unloaded, in an open position with the saftey on and a trigger lock engaged. Ammunition should be stored in a separate secured location unless in an actual vault. With at least 2 locking measures...biometric, key lock, number pad, spin lock.
Is it a handgun or a shotgun? If it's a shotgun keep in mind that they are NOT drop safe. Which means that if its loaded, which I hope it's not, and it falls it can and usually will fire. A shotgun should ALWAYS be stored without a shot chambered. Always. Always. Always. 
I'm worried about you. Gun saftey is so important. Please verify that the firearm is not loaded and arrange to either secure the weapon properly or have him give it back to his father immediatley.

My SO has guns. I don’t love them but he wants to be able to protect our family and I get that. I would not like him secretly having them though. He is also open to me about when he is buying one and where he keeps them and teaches me how to use them as well just in case.

We have guns in the house. My husband is ex military and I have been trained as well to use them. That being said they are all secure and locked away. 
I think your spouse not letting you know isn’t ok. I would want to know. I think you have every right to be upset about that.

I think I wouldn't mind since he has it secured. But you are not wrong to be upset it is your house some people have different feelings about having guns. 
My husband has 4 guns but he always explains to me where it is placed, which is loaded or not.
