What the best cat food dry or soft?

So we have a 9month cat and it's only indoor cat.

This picture is what we feed her now but wanting to change it.

Our indoor boy has done really well with this. Vet approved and said it’s good too. So we’ve stuck with it as we’ve tried a few withers - he either stuck his nose up to it or was puking a lot. I believe they have a kitten brand as well so you could feed him kitten until your kitty considered an adult at a year old or so! 
Our boy also eats this brand, grain free as well in the wet food. Just a little helping in the morning and evening. He loves it! Then has the dry throughout the day if he chooses

The best kind of cat food is AAFCO approved pet food. It’s the North American food accreditation board (not all food is required to meet these standards). They only give their approval and allow brands to put their stamp of approval on the food if they meet standards such as nutritional requirements for the animal. They generally have to have veterinary nutritionists on staff of the pet food company and are involved in the production and quality control. 
There are many different brands that are accredited- Purina, Hills and Royal Canin are big ones in North America. They have kitten and adult formulations as well as those for weight loss, geriatric animals, animals with kidney problems, etc. Veterinary pet food brands (generally only able to get these at vet clinics) are always AAFCO brands as well- these brands are very high quality and must be approved by a veterinary nutritionist as well as meet AAFCO standards. 
Wet vs dry food really doesn’t matter unless your cat has certain dietary requirements which your vet would discuss with you. The one benefit of dry food though is that dry veterinary dental diets do actually help improve dental health in cats (other brands that claim to do this are lying and there is no research to support their claims).
The best thing to do is to talk to your vet about what food would be best for your cat if you’re struggling to pick one. Also, remember to read the back of the bag about the amount of food to feed as most people feed what they think is best and often over feed leading to obesity and associated health problems. And if changing food please do so gradually (add a bit of the new food and slowly increase the amount until you fully switch over) since sudden diet changes can cause health problems as well.

Wet is best for cats (if you can't do balanced raw), biologically they are supposed to get moisture from their diet as they don't actively drink much water. At the very least feeding a 50/50wet and dry over plain dry.

I do a mix of both. Dry food is available all the time and wet/soft food is given twice a day. Depends on the cat though I guess. My cats are pretty good at regulating how much of the dry food they eat
