When did you stop using the infant car seat?

This might be dumb but FTM! I was curious when you stopped using the infant car seat? It says up to 35 lbs but I feel like it would be awfully cramped for a 35 lb baby.

The weight limit is 35lbs but the height limit is like 32” or their head needs to be an inch below the top of the seat. It’s not about age because every baby hits that limit at a different point. Convertible car seats to accommodate infants though, so switch when you’re ready.

We switched to a rear facing convertible seat when my daughter was about 6 months old. She was getting too heavy for me to easily get the infant seat in and out because I’m so short so we ended up just putting the convertible seat in and using that. The weight restrictions are a bit confusing. My 2 yr old is 27lbs so if you go by weight, she could still be using her infant seat but height wise she is way too tall to be in it now. I think the higher weight restrictions are just to accommodate chubbier infants.

We switched a cpl weeks ago. He’s since turned seven months. His legs were so long in carrier, shoulders were cramped, and he’s 23lb which in carrier is a total pain! He was born over ten lb so everything infant and young baby is outgrown, been in twelve month clothes since four and a half months 🤦‍♀️convertible car seat isn’t my fave since he’s got to be carried out to it and unhooked to transfer to stroller but we’re making it work.

Right now I am using the infant seat more like a convertible car seat for my 6 month old because she is getting heavy to carry in the seat, but with covid if I have to take her somewhere in public I like being able to put it on the stroller and cover her. I also typically don’t go anywhere without her, if I did I would take the carrier out. I am going to keep it this way as long as I can, then switch to the convertible.

About 4months with my oldest, and 5months with my youngest. Never used the infant car seat outside of the car so was more practical to just use the next seat.

I switched to a convertible car seat when he was 8 months.  He was over 20 lbs and I just couldn’t carry the infant seat with him in it anymore.  He was so happy when he switched.  The convertible car seat (got graco grows4me) is sooo much more comfortable and he sits up higher in it so he can see out the window.  He went from screaming every car trip to watching out the window and singing 😂

We switched at 6 months. I wanted to wait until he was sitting pretty much on his own so that I could sit him in the cart at grocery stores. And he was heavy, and miserable in the infant seat. He’s much happier in the convertible seat.
