Are some kids just naturally bad?

Question

I’m just curious cause my aunt has two kids and they are just terrible. I mean dont listen, hit etc.. I go home with my fiancé from her house and we talk about how our kids would never act like that when we have kids. But then it got me wondering, can you really control that? Is a kids behavior based on how the parents are? Just curious on your ladies opinions

It is SO dependent on their home environment! I am a teacher and will have kids who just...make me nuts. Then, I meet their parents and it all makes total sense.

You know I thought the same but having 4 kids I honestly think nature takes over nurture in some ways! All my kids have been brought up by the same rules and they're all sooooo different! My youngest being a biter and a hitter which none of my others have been and if they have hit or bit they've been told not to and stopped. My youngest daughter is so clever yet she's so disobedient, she will jump on the sofas, climb on the back of the sofas, runs around like crazy (I try to stop it as she's had way to many accidents! E.g she's ended up splitting her forehead open and dislocated her elbow) and she never stops, everyday we tell her the same and go through the same process, but my others never do as they know not to 🤷 kids confuse the hell out of me, I know it will stop eventually as I'll keep teaching them right from wrong, but for one kid it can be like "oh that was bad I won't do that" and another can be "but it's fun so I'll try to do it again tomorrow" 
So I dunno I think nature plays a huge part and it's our job as a parent to find what works for that individual child so nurture can then take the lead instead

Kids behavior is based on how they are parented, consistency, nurture, any abuse. Very rarely is a child out of control for no reaso. Its often lack of consistancy and approperiate disaplin. The children who are really out of control normally are the ones who have been abused, some children have mental imparements that cause anger or impulse control issues bellow what they should be for their age

Both. I wouldn’t say naturally bad, but some kids can naturally be a handful, even with good parents, especially in the toddler years. Kids are born with different personalities and temperaments. Some kids are more stubborn than others. Some are louder than others. Some are more emotional than others. And some are more active than others.  I don’t think you can blame the parent all the time. But when a child is straight up disrespectful, then yeah that might be a parenting issue... but active, hyper, loud kids are not always results of bad parenting. That’s just the kid’s personality, and yes the parents must teach the child how to control that behavior in different environments, but when kids are young, they won’t always understand when certain behaviors are and aren’t appropriate. They’re still learning.

Yes and no. It depends on how the parent handles the child but you do have to keep in mind that theyre humans as well even wonderful children can be bad people. You just try your hardest to raise them right.

MOST kids are bad....I gotta be super firm with mines or else...He will go from bad to terrible...Never say "my child would never be that way" esp when you don't have kids because they have their own PERSONALITIES and you can not control everything they do.

Soooo many research studies have shown that yes, biological genes play a part, but enviroment plays a much bigger part in behavior.

Yes and no i mean kids are kids they're gonna scream and hit and make noise and break things because they're kids however ik my mom would've never allowed me to do that because i was taught not to and i was taught that actions have consequences i think it's both i think kids are bound to act like kids but i also think that parents should make rules and teach them why it's not right

Every child has their own personality and will respond to factors in their home environment.  Some kids are very good at manipulating, for example, and will develop that as a bad habit if their parents are not picking up on it. Or if they need structure but have very disorganized parents. It's all about whether their needs are being met, even in terms of preventing their flaws from taking over.

I’ve been a daycare teacher for many many years. Kids will act in ways that parents teach them is “okay” or will mimic the way their parents act. Kids learn from the way their parents react and will do things in order to get the reaction they are expecting. Kids are NOT naturally bad or naturally good. Bad behaviors and good behaviors are LEARNED behaviors.
