In the military?

Anyone else in the military? I’m worried I’m not getting the care I need from the base. I just want to hear your experience... I found out I was pregnant on May 29th. I went to the base hospital to get a blood test but they would only let me do a urine test. It came back positive and I was told to wait til they contacted me and if I hadn’t heard by the next Wednesday to call. So I ended up calling them for them schedule me for my first “appointment” on the 16th of June... this appointment is only over the phone. I don’t know when an actual in person appointment will be. They also haven’t gotten me my profile yet. I don’t know I feel just nervous that something will be wrong and I won’t know. I thought at least they would do blood tests to make sure my HCG was good. Ugh this is so stressful.

They told me I can’t even call to make an appointment til I’m 7.5 weeks because they’re only making appointments a week in advance due to Covid 🤦🏻‍♀️

My last pregnancy my friend and I compared our care since we were both pregnant at the same time. I was seen on base while she saw a civilian doctor. Turns out that our care was identical and actually I had a better feeling about my care because if I had any concerns or issues ( I had quite a bit of spotting) I was seen that day. I think it depends on where you’re at and if you feel comfortable with your provider. 
It is pretty common to not get blood work unless there is a reason for it. The first trimester is nerve wrecking unfortunately  😬

That sounds like pretty standard care from not being in the military. My OB doesnt see you until st least 8 weeks and only does blood draw if you have a previous history of miscarriages. Right now with the pandemic phone visits have become more popular and I'm seeing a lot not physically going in until 10-12 weeks. I know it sucks waiting but it's the standard of care unfortunately.

I’m not nor ever was in the military myself but for my first pregnancy I was seen on base at the hospital. My husbands was in. I never got a blood test to confirm either and they never checked my levels at all. They see SO many pregnant women they just don’t have the time or hands to do real appointments like civilians do. I can say it’s TOTALLY different off base! You would definitely get more care! Maybe try finding a hospital/office off base that will accept Tricare. I’m sure they’re around you. Good luck!! As far as your profile, they need to be get on that crap!
