Birthing position?

qu

So I've been given the go ahead for a vbac, and I'm having a hospital birth. I plan on doing it as natural as I can, no epidural or induction. I don't see myself giving birth on my back like I know hospitals like to have you that way. I've done enough research to know that I certainly don't want to do it like that. I want to use gravity to help baby out of the birth canal. Example: squatting or sitting upright more. My doctor gave me a lame excuse "well we like you on your back and your feet in the stir ups so we can see" i dont want that. How would i go about giving birth the way I want. And getting my point across that I'm not giving birth laying down. I know it's not mandatory. And I don't think the hospital ( doctor) can force me to lay on my back and push a baby out. ( I would have a home birth if I could)
