My husband and I recently found out that I’m pregnant with our first child. I’m about 10 weeks along so I know we have plenty of time to figure out a name but, if it’s a boy, I already have a name picked out that I love. I have always been the type of person who wants to name my first born son after his father but my husband isn’t a fan of his name so we went with his middle name, Delaine. I am also the only person in my family who has the opportunity to keep my maiden/Family name alive and I want to make my son’s middle name William after my father but my husband doesn’t believe in naming children after other people. He thinks it makes hard for children to be their own people, like they have to live in their namesake’s shadow. How can my husband and I find some common ground, where we can name our child, boy or girl, something we will both love?
