Mirena while Breastfeeding

So I had a routine pap smear today and was talking to my doctor about birth control methods. We currently use condoms and are really good about it, but it just really isn't my favorite. I did really well on combo pill for 3 years, but I can't take that right now because I'm breastfeeding and plan to as long as possible. My baby is 6 months and I would like to continue until she's around 18 months if possible. My doctor suggested Mirena and I'm really wary of it. My friend had it and it embedded in her uterus and she had to have it removed. I'm terrified that it would do the same because we really want to have more kids. We tried for right at a year before getting pregnant and I want to be able to get pregnant when we're ready (2-3 years from now). Anyone have any experience with Mirena while breastfeeding? I'm worried it will affect milk production. I've had to work really hard to BF this long and things are finally going smoothly. I just really don't want to mess that up. Also any experience with getting pregnant after Mirena? Or even getting pregnant while using Mirena?
