Is it fair for families lose their government assistance?

I came across and article today over a family losing their food stamps assistance over their unemployment benefits due to the extra $600. But it’s not just their Snap , some people in my area who are low income also lost their housing assistance over the extra money they are getting from unemployment. Do you think it’s fair for them to lose it even though the bonuses end in July and some who got the bonus are already back to work with the same amount of income they were before the pandemic?

you know what, fuck it, i know a lot of people here have a weird desire to see people in poverty be punished, simply for being poor. and it’s fucking disgusting. 
no human being should be rejected from being able to get government assistance because of a temporary weekly payment for unemployment. 
they’re literally trapping people and families in at the same level of poverty. one of the most harmful things about poverty is having to live pay check to pay check, you cannot save up a small percentage of your earnings to better your financial position over the years. society is shaped to make it extremely difficult for people to break out the cycle of poverty. 
can you imagine the small benefits these families would see, if they were allowed to save the $600, or put it to outstanding bills, or put it towards necessary expenses that had been pushed back, all without having to worry about losing out on the ability to feed themselves/families?
i cannot support the constant force of trying to take from poor people what little they already have. it’s inhumane, it’s disgusting, it’s abhorrent, it’s selfish, it’s greedy, it’s unnecessary. 
fucking shame on everyone who’s happy with shit like this.

I feel like SNAP benefits shouldn’t be interrupted yet. The extra $600 is only temporary. When it ends, many people will still be without work and there won’t be jobs to go back to. These aren’t normal circumstances. Yes, I do understand it’s income and counts but given the current situation I think it would be reasonable to allow recipients to continue receiving benefits.

Its not right because as soon as those bills are paid with that money there are still on the same sitiuation. What i hate is they ask if you have a bank account and how much is on it they dont allow people to even save money to start climbing out of a hole. Because if they have any money in an account or on hand they don't give you assistance.

Why would you be PUNISHED for a pandemic that is out of your control?? How do you OFFER help to stay afloat then turn around and say “oh our bad you’re floating a little TOO much!” This is a TEMPORARY financial support and it’s beyond inhumane to strip someone from their ways of survival due to a situation out of their control. I'm wondering if the state automatically added that in to their income or if the families told them. A friend got hers and didn't tell them and still kept her benefits and I sure as hell am not going to tell them if I can ever get mine bc its temporary. It can take over a month to get back, too, and my baby isn't gonna starve so they can save a couple hundred bucks. They don't include taxes or the stimulus check so there's no reason to add this temporary help either. It's not fair and it's bureaucratic bullshit.

Someone please advise.. if their income goes back down to their original pay after the padded unemployment $600, can’t they just reapply for benefits again?
This seems to be an ongoing problem of the government keeping people dependent.. either he is saying that even with the $600 income padding he still requires the benefit, which means he is saying that they should raise the qualification standards to include higher income households OR he is saying once you are off benefits it is difficult to get back on them even when your income drops?... not sure what the exact fix is without understanding the total ask..

It’s not right. I’ll tell you why IMO. I lost my job due to COVID, here I am still actively looking for a job and can’t get it. With unemployment I only receive $100 plus $533 added on so $633. I have 4 kids and my husband is the only one working. The unemployment goes to the car payment and house payment and it’s gone. My us and check which is less then the unemployment get every 2 weeks and his goes to split the rest of the bills on top of buying diaper and other things. Food stamps right now is literally helping us out a lot. So yes I think it’s unfair, unemployment is barely getting people by as it is. This is just temporary but ppl really need it
