Midwife?

Does anybody know much about a midwife and how to get one? What the cost it or would insurance cover?

My midwife is fantastic and I love them. In Canada midwife's are fully covered so I don't know the cost  but they've taken such good care of me. They can order ultrasounds and blood work and refer to specialists if anything isnt quite right. Barring c-section she will be delivering the baby at the local birth center (it's like a fancy hotel for delivering babies).

I have a midwife through a hospital - she’s a certified nurse midwife as part of an OB team. My insurance covers it the same way they would any provider.

My midwife team (homebirth) is about $4,000 with all appointments taking place in my home except for scans.

I see a midwife. She works along my OB. Barring any complications or a c-section she will be my primary provider and do the delivery. I love both of them and feel comfortable knowing my midwife can consult with my MD at any time.

I see a midwife. I’m in the US. My office staffs drs and midwives. I choose to see the midwife. No cost difference.

My office has midwives and OB Drs you get to chose who you want to see. No difference with insurance or whatever.

I only see midwives, even for routine paps and things like that. Insurance covers them the same as any doctor.
