Hi everyone..so my husband and I have two kids and decided that it’s finally time to buy another family car a (SUV) We found our dream car but it’s Manual 6 Speed..My husband knows how to drive stick shift well but I don’t! I’m use to automatic..

we still have the other car and I feel like it’ll be a pain doing a returning process with the dealer..Do you have a car that’s not automatic? Do you prefer it more?

Almost everyone learn to drive manual here, if you take your driving license with an automatic car you aren't allowed to drive manual unless you take a new driver license exam. It's also been studies showing that you are more aware of the traffic and what's going on when driving a manual car, because you have to plan more than with an automatic. 
So needless to say I prefer manual!.

My husband will go out of his way to buy a manual and they aren’t that easy to find anymore. He got a Jeep Compass this January because he wasn’t willing to give up the stick shift. He’s always had a stick and I’ve never known how to drive them. I have my car and he’ll drive both (like if we take my car on vacation) but it’s not been a big deal to us. If mine is in the shop, I have my parents and aunt I can ask to borrow their cars.

I prefer a manual transmission over an automatic. I feel more "in tune" with my car, and i feel like I have more control. One thing I can say - is dont give up if you start to learn!! 1st gear is a new manual drivers worst enemy. It gets easier, i promise!

Our wrangler is standard and is SO much fun to drive. My first 3 cars were standard. I don’t particularly care which I drive in general, but I prefer automatic for my commute in stop and go city traffic.

Learn it. Takes a bit time if you haven't done it before. I only drive manual too. Because most of the cars in my area are manual. And they are cheaper. I love being in control there. But if you have not done it, it might be a bumpy start. 😃 Oh. And also, if going abroad and renting a catr, then manuals are cheaper and automatics are often all rented out. 😃

I learned how to drive stick when I was like 17 and the first few cars I had were manual. It’s one of those things like learning to ride a bike..  takes a little while to get used to but you never forget! I actually enjoy driving stick but my husband doesn’t know how to so it never made sense to but a manual car. 
I would just attempt learning! You never know, you might love It!

I know how to drive a manual but I hate it and would only do so in an emergency situation. My sister loves driving manual though.

My fiancé drives manual and only manual. He loves it and feels safer driving it. He’s going to teach me because we want our family car to be manual as well! 
Most people I know that know how to drive manual prefer it over automatic.
