Professional to text?

Question

I am currently opening a new business which means I am constantly in contact with the general contractor, landlord, and banker. All of which are guys. And all of them initiated texting to do business. I am assuming because it is easy and convenient with our busy schedules. My husband is LIVID!!!! He says that it is unprofessional that they text me (all of it is business related) and is disgusted I would carry on with using text as a form of communication with them.  
Honestly I just took it as the new norm. He says it’s not normal. 
What do you guys think?

Texting is normal in a professional setting. Your husband is the one out of the curve here.

My family owns a construction company, texting is normal if that relationship has been established. Full blown conversations should be done over email or in person,  but text does allow a history of what has been said so it covers the contractor.

Texting is professional, especially if it’s strictly business and you’re not getting texts out of business hours unless necessary.

Texting is acceptable these days. Several years ago it definitely wouldn't have been but times change.

My husband is a business owner and does real estate photography. He works with 50+ agents and he prefers texting. It is easier to refer to texts after the fact so he has record of addresses, their needs, etc. it also takes a lot less time for everyone involved to text than to talk. He speaks on the phone with the ones that prefer that method but he prefers texting.

I usually send emails or phone calls to people outside my work. Anyone who works in the company texting is normal! 
I woudnt be offended or annoyed if someone did text me though. Its just easier to have it all files on email for me. 
If i make a call, always follow up on an email too (maybe you could do this too- after a few texts, send an email just confirming so you have it for back up)

He seems very insecure. Texting is much more impersonal than actual phone conversations. Would he rather you speak on the phone with them? Is his issue really that it is unprofessional or that you are speaking to men and maybe he can’t hear what is being said.

Yeah we pretty much prefer to communicate over WhatsApp where we can. Our clients prefer it too. Some people are old fashioned and prefer phone calls but it's the norm now to text.

It’s 2020... texting is way more convenient. This may have been unacceptable a decade ago but I personally love that it’s the new norm

I think its fine as long as thr initial agreement is contractual or in person. But communicating via text is beneficial because it eliminates room for error.
