What is a miscarriage like

I am 4 weeks and 4 days. I have been testing and getting very very faint positives. This morning I got a yes+ on a digital. However shortly after i started bleeding.
It’s not painful or as heavy as I expected it to be. But I have a pad on and it’s bright red.

I think it can be different for everyone. My first miscarriage I started spotting brown at 5 weeks when I would wipe and at 8 weeks there was nothing found in the sac and then 5 days later I gushed bright red blood. A week later the pregnancy was done. With my second miscarriage I started spotting brown when I would wipe at 10 weeks and I instantly knew it was another miscarriage and sure enough we found out it was a missed miscarriage. Baby stopped growing at 7 weeks and I should have been 10+4. Had to have a D&C at what should have been 11 weeks. Don’t panic yet. Call your Dr.

Depends. My 5 week loss physically felt like nothing more than a slightly heavier period. My missed miscarriage just a few months ago was something else entirely. Both started with simple spotting, progressed to more and more red blood, then cramping, and just got worse from there. 
Any and all spotting/bleeding should be discussed with your OB/midwife. Sometimes it's nothing too serious, sometimes it is. They'll be able to help you more accurately determine what's causing it and how best to move forward.
