2days of contractions, sent home twice and then almost didn’t make it to the hospital on time 😬

Stacie

So it’s a long one, but our cleft cutie is finally here and smashing it.

So my due date was 02/06/20, ended up going to hospital that day as I had two gushes of clear fluid with no smell so thought my waters had gone.... turned out I probably peed my pants 😂🤷‍♀️ so as it was my due date they did me a sweep while I was there, I was 1cm.

Next day had a large bloody show and then continued to loose mucus plug the days after but no other real signs.

So had a second sweep on the 6th still with no signs of labour but 1-2cms dilated and cervix soft.

Then when I woke up the next day (7th) I started having mild contractions every 10mins, after a few hours and them slowly getting closer together we called the grandparents to come get our little boy just incase.

Around lunch time they were 5mins apart, lasting 1min but my tens machine made them pretty easy to cope with.

Went in anyway as I didn’t get contractions with my first, waters broke then still had to be induced which lead to irregular contractions leading to needing forceps as he was back to back.

Anyway, went into hospital got examined and was still only 2cms, and told to come back when I was having 3-4 in 10mins but lasting a min each. Gutted.

So went home, went for a walk, on my ball etc. Let’s get these contractions going....... but they just didn’t want to get closer, they would get more intense but would range between 5-10min intervals.

So no sleep and didn’t really want to eat.

I managed to turn my tens onto a setting where I could rest a little though which helped.

Anyway, next day, still around the 10min mark but some were getting pretty intense, and started feeling very sick so Hubby wanted me to go get checked.

Again examined and not progressed enough, baby not engaged only 3-4cms and baby back to back so that’s why I was getting such back ache.

Oh great I thought, I get to go through the same labour as my first, days of inconsistent contractions and then end up needing help 😩

So I was pretty disheartened at this point.

On google we get, how to spin a baby and engage them, and we tried it all 😒 but I felt baby move a lot so I had done all I could and what would be would be right 🤷‍♀️ contractions still around 10mins but not as strong and it was almost evening now.

Thinking that they were going to stop at some point that night because of how they were going.

Hubby runs me a nice bath with clary sage oil radox bath salts and bath lotion, and after that I decided to try and get and early night as I wasn’t going to get much sleep with these contractions.

8pm I got into bed, again using my tens machine to cope with the contractions.

Got to about midnight and I woke Hubby up to say they were still 10mins apart but lasting ages and really strong.

Then about 3.20am I had such a strong contraction I wasn’t sure if my waters broke or I peed myself, so shouted hubby and went to the toilet to sort myself out.

While on the toilet my contractions were on top of each other and I had major pressure down low, and as my husband said “I was mooing like a cow”

Hubby calls the hospital to say we’re on our way, by this point I can’t walk or talk, we get to the hospital about 4.15am and I need to be wheel-chaired in.

Hubby has to wait by the entrance because of covid while I’m examined.

I just about managed to get out the chair onto bed, and my waters fully explode and that was it my body was pushing, alarms going to get someone to fetch hubby ASAP, he walks in to me legs akimbo and he can see her hair, she’s there.

I finally get some gas and air as at this point my tens was doing fek all 😂 and around 6 pushes she was out, tearing me front and back 😬☹️😓

But she’s absolutely worth every stitch.

She was 7lb 7ozs born at 4.48am.

To say that the hospital didn’t know how severe her cleft would be and how much help she may need straight after birth breathing wise, it’s a little scary to think we almost didn’t make it to the hospital, but luckily we have no complications, she’s taken to feeding really well, we’re discharged the same day, and she’s just gorgeous.

So mommies, don’t focus to much on your contractions as they can be as irregular as mine were and change from 0-100 in seconds, I’ll add a screen shot of my contractions timer for you to see what I mean of my last contractions I had, we stopped timing once the mooing started though 😂

They literally didn’t spread out to more than 15 mins or get closer than 5mins before my waters breaking, there were a few times I stoped tracking them because of doing other things but I had contractions all day long those two days.
