Lower HCG and spotting...

Yesterday I had my labs drawn, and got the results today. My HCG is 300 with my progesterone being 18. I have had brown spotting since I tested positive last week. I am 5 weeks today. Has anyone experienced a lower HCG and things turned out okay before?
