First Period Postpartum

How do you know it’s your period for the first time postpartum? I’m 7 weeks ppt and had sex yesterday for the first time. I noticed after that I was lightly bleeding which I wasn’t too alarmed about but today I’m bleeding pretty heavy. I’m not sure if it’s my period or something wrong. I have a call into my doctor.
