Boppy to hospital ?

This is probably more of a personal preference but for those of you who have had babies, is it worth it to bring a boppy pillow to the hospital for nursing? I had a virtual class with a lactation consultant yesterday and she said you can just use a regular pillow but I know a lot of people who like to bring them. Let me know your thoughts, I’m trying to figure out if it’s worth it to carry along! Lol

I didn’t bring mines with me to the hospital because I didn’t want to have a lot of things to carry in/out of the hospital. They did use pillows to help me breastfeed though. Plus to I’ve heard your stay at the hospital isn’t that long now due to covid they are discharging people 24 hours after giving birth or 2 days after.

I brought mine with my first and did not use it. I definitely won’t be bringing it this time. I’m packing as light as possible. Anything that I can toss at the hospital I’m not even bringing home.

I used a regular pillow with my first no problem. I never even got a boppy with him and breastfed for 2 1/2 years. I got gifted one this time and I plan on leaving it at home and just using a regular pillow while at the hospital. With everything going around, I don’t want to bring it and have to wash it when I get home!

I didn’t bring mine when I had my first son, I ended up being there a week so after the first night my fiancé went home & grabbed it & it was soooo much nicer. I’m bringing it when I have my second in just over a week

I was going to, but with the virus I wanted to bring as little as possible to save myself some washing once we get home.

Honestly I never used my breastfeeding pillow. I found it more hassle than an ordinary pillow and actually made breastfeeding harder. I'm really glad I didnt take it to the hospital with me I already had way too much to carry out of the hospital. This is all based off when I had my son, I've not had this baby yet and I've not even got one this time.

I think it's good to have it with you in case they offer help with nursing - b an experienced nurse might be able to help you get the hang of it. This way you'll be able to see how your own equipment works best.
Though I don't have a nursing pillow as I never felt like I needed one with my first whom I breastfed for 23 months. I had strong letdown so the sidelying position worked the best for us.
Instead I'll bring some baby blankets and learn again how to do the best wraps with our own blankets 😂 Last time the newborn ward nurses did some amazing wraps, keeping most babies calm and relaxed. I asked them to teach me how to do that and they very kindly helped, but since I stopped doing it it didn't stay with me.

Nah dont bring it to hospital, you'll have to clean it when you get back home. A couple of well placed hospital pillows will suffice until you go home. I used my boppy all the time when I was nursing on my glider chair in the nursery.
