My kids are 8 and 4 and I am due in September with number 3. About a year ago we got 2 baby guinea pigs. My kids were into them at first and played with them but that quickly faded and now they tend to stay in their cage all the time. I’ve been the only one taking care of them (feeding, cleaning the cage, etc.).

At this point I am so over it. I want to get rid of them. I don’t have the energy or patience to clean the cage daily and the kids don’t even pay attention to them.

I’ve talked about rehoming then and whenever I bring that up my oldest daughter objects. I’ve told her before you never play with them and you don’t take care of them so we should send them to a new home where they will be happier.

Am I terrible to find them a new home? I feel awful to take their pets away but I just can’t deal with the upkeep anymore. Ugh I feel like a horrible person.
