Some women find it disrespectful to serve another woman’s man/husband a plate. Especially in the south. It’s either you fix us both a plate or no one & we’ll help ourselves.

This definitely must be a southern thing cuz here in California we do buffet style and no one is infantalized and served their food like babies by someone else's wife. We're all capable adults in our friend group and we help ourselves. I would find it weird if ANYONE made my plate up for me and decided what portions I want. No thanks.

I would be bothered but id probably make a joke out of it like "while you're at it do you fancy washing his stinky socks and cleaning his left overs off the toilet?" She would probably get the message that it's not ok then too 😂

I would interpret that as she knows I’m comfortable as she is my friend but she wanted to make him feel more welcome. I think it’s kind of weird though for people to put food on other people’s plates. Let me get it myself lol. Let them get it themselves.
