How do you know he's "The One"?

I have been with this boy for 2.5 years and even early on, we started talking about a future together. We have grown a lot and he's my pillar at all times. 
I'm just not sure if it's too early to get settled on a person. 
I'm 20 and he's turning 21 this year.
How did you know? How did you know your boyfriend was THE one?

I met my husband young like you have. when I was your age (I’m now 28) 
I felt the same wondering if he was “the one”.
I knew I didn’t want to be with anyone else, but I also didn’t want to get married yet or have children so I used to panic maybe that meant he wasn’t the one! 
But honestly, don’t put pressure on anything, live in the moment!
If your happy and you love him that’s all that matters! Every day longer you spend with him, falling more in love and making amazing memories, you’ll know if he’s the one. 
Because you won’t be able to imagine life without him and won’t want to 😘
If he isn’t the one... with every day that passes, you’ll work that out too!

I met my husband at 18 , he was 21. It was constant excitement with him. We built a very strong bond and friendship. We saw each other every weekend but sometimes every other weekend because we both worked. It helped a lot honestly. We talked a lot via text and phone. We waited till about 4 years to move in together. Then another 5 till we got married. We worked on our relationship and bond. It’s something we both just felt. 12 years later we both are very much in love and happy. I couldn’t imagine being with anyone else. Yes some think it’s a long time but I was only 27 when we got married. I think the waiting helped us. Really knowing one another and who we are individually as well. 
Also, a man should just be smart about life decisions too. Just my opinion.

I met my fiancé when I was 18 and in a horribly toxic and emotionally abusive relationship. We started talking platonically and I just knew. We have a really big age gap, so he was apprehensive for our relationship to become romantic. But like I said, I knew from the beginning and pursued him. We’ve now been together 2 years in August and our son was born 4 days ago🥰

My advice- if you know you KNOW. With my SO, I never had to ask or wonder. I knew!! No doubts at all.

I don’t believe in a “one.” I married my husband because I love him, we have respect for one another, we have similar beliefs, we have similar goals, and we are compatible. Someday that may change. It happens.
