How many blood draws have you had?

I only had one blood test but it seems like all you Americans have multiple. Why? My guess is something to do with health insurance and Canadians only get one unless something is wrong? Thoughts?

I‘m 4 weeks and 4 days and my very first blood test and ultrasound will be when I‘m 12 weeks. (I live in Europe). Patience is a virtue over here😅.

5w1d haven’t seen my doctor yet. So didn’t get anything done. Will see my doctor next week. I guess the ones getting multiples either had miscarriage before or high risk or sometimes they are just worried and want to make sure everything is ok.

Normal pregnancy I had zero. I just did ivf and I had 2 blood draws - through the ivf clinic.

I've had 5 because I am high risk, have a history of early miscarriage, and had some spotting 🤷🏼‍♀️ it was very reassuring to be able to see the numbers go up and know that everything is ok, that it was normal spotting/bleeding not miscarriage bleeding.  Luckily my last one was Wednesday!

I got one bc I have hypothyroidism so I wanted to make sure my levels were good after the urine test. So they threw in the Hcg test as well. I asked if I would be having another (bc I saw so many on here) and they kinda laughed at me lol

The range for Hcg is so broad that one number doesn’t tell you a lot other than you are pregnant. It is important that Hcg doubles every 48 hours so the second blood draw confirms your numbers a doubling. If they are not, it could indicate a non viable or ectopic pregnancy. I MC after learning me numbers weren’t double last year so it was important for my peace of mind to know they were this time.
