Can someone explain what this means ?

I got done a pap test last week and the results came back sayin "Low grade squamous intraepithelial lesion; Mild dysplasia" and suggested a follow up but I've been trying to contact the office and no one answers...

It’s like the lowest grade of abnormal cells on the cervix. I had that for years and they’d do a colposcopy following pap results. At colposcopy they may take a biopsy. You want to follow up on it til you get normal paps again or it can become higher grade and turn into cervical cancer.

LSIL (and HPV infections) often clear up on their own without treatment. In these cases, no treatment or recovery is needed. If your immune system is having a hard time fighting off the HPV infection, your doctor may recommend excisional treatment.
