How to save a dying tree?

Question

So our front baby tree is dried and dying, and we need advice on how to save it (unless it’s dead already). Google hasn’t been helpful, and we don’t want to hire a arborist. The mulch is new, and we’re building a habit of watering it.
Anybody got any more advice? How many times do you water your tree/lawn? Here are some pics of the poor thing :(

What kind of tree is it? What USDA hardiness zone do you live in? Did you deeply water it 3-4xs a week the first 2 weeks of planting to help establish the root system? Fertilizer? How deep/wide did you dig the hole that you planted it in? Did you break up the root ball before planting it? Did you add any soil amendments?
Sorry so many questions. There are a TON of variables with establishing and caring for a new plant.
