Change in training for police...

Devil`s Advocate

Ask yourself this. Why is it that most hospital security guards rarely use their weapons in unruly or psych patients? I mean, they run, kick, bite, spit, and attack. I've seen it, experienced it, and have this conversation every night with my husband who works at a city hospital in Saint Louis as a security officer. He makes over $65K each year more than average security guards but still on the low end especially with the type of people he deals with on a day to day. However, his training is similar to a police training. He is equipped like a normal police officer the only difference is they can detain with the use of handcuffs and not arrest aka no Miranda rights are read. He has dealt with patients who have gotten hold of scapels, needles, victims of violence, gun shot victims, drug addicts, etc. Maybe real cops should go through hospital training. Just a thought.
