Anyone else's little one play with everything BUT their toys? 🙄

Drives me nuts. She's got more toys that I have clothes yet she's always trying to get to my work headset, pots and pans, tissues, cushions and so on ...

Kids have always liked that stuff more. I’m not getting much for “toys” I think it’s a waste.

I think the first 6-9 months they don't need much in toys. I would just get objects from around the house to show baby every day and let it explore that way. Think apples, bananas, wooden spoons, oven mitts, old keys(cleaned and on a key ring), knick knacks around the house, empty boxes, home made toys, etc. I'm going to do that with my next baby for sure.

My son is 6 yrs still he loves Costco cardboard box. Kids love everyday objects like keys, remote and cell phone. I usually divide my son toys and give or let him choose one set. He get excited to play with his old toys which he didn’t have access for sometime.I will only give when he cleans up the old one.

My toddler seems to play a lot with her toys. She is 17 months and loves puzzles, books, stuffed animals. She loves her water table, swing, blocks.

Depending on her age, she’s probably already mastered her toys. They get board of them if they’ve figured them out. Put half away and rotate every month.

The fewer toys we have in our home for her to play with them more she plays with them! My daughter is also attracted to things that look like the real item so we try and get her those things. She has a play kitchen and has metal pots and utensils that look like the ones in the actual kitchen.

Babies and toddlers are more likely to play with toys when they only have a small amount at a time. We rotated toys every week until my LO was around 2, then I split the toys into different rooms (some in living room, her bedroom, and den/playroom) so that it’s a smaller amount for her to focus on. They’ll always love the stuff around the house to play with but my LO plays with her toys independently a ton. I notice when they’re all in a bin unorganized or she has too many she loses interest.
