Aveda vs cheaper brands

Anyone out there think it’s worth it to buy a shampoo and conditioner that costs like $170 for both but will last an entire year and makes their hair amazing? I love Aveda and it’s been the best for my hair but it is so damn expansive! I’m trying to weight out the pros and cons here of buying it as opposed to buys cheap drug store stuff which is what I’ll likely end up doing if I don’t buy the Aveda again. Right now they also have a deal where if you spend $75 you get a free full size cherry almond hand and body wash valued at $34.
