Where would you prefer to raise your family? Small farm town of 5000 people, or a larger town with more activity of 25,000 people?

Even 25,000 sounds small to me 😬. Populated city but a house with privacy is my perfect scenario.

I have never felt so happy to live as rurally as we do, surrounded by farms, than when this whole Covid debacle started. We have not seen a shortage of anything and we have plenty of outdoor space to happily get through stay at home orders.

I don't think I can ever live in a small town just because everyone knows everyone and gossip travels like nothing. You do one bad thing and it ruins all your chances for you and spreads to everyone in the small town (sometimes).

I grew up “in town”, with a population of less than 2,000 and married a local farmer after college and getting my job in the same town I grew up in. I love it, but it does suck the nearest Walmart and major hospital are literally an hour away. It’s all about your priorities 😊

I live on the outskirts of a very rural farming county and love it. The crime rate is exceptionally low, the people are always friendly and welcoming, and its very low cost of living compared to other counties around us. Sure we have to drive at least 20 to 25 minutes to get to a big box store, but the peace and quiet is well worth it!

I “grew up” in a city and moved to a small farm/ranch town when I was 11. As a teenager I despised living in such a small town because there was nothing to do except get in trouble (which in reality wasn’t really true, I just rebelled and wanted to party). As an adult I absolutely adore this small little town, its home. I’ve lived here for 17 years now. Everyone is friendly and it’s comfortable. I’m happy I get to raise my son here.

I had a very nice upbringing in up in a rural village (pop. 1100)... but it wasn’t for me.  I needed diversity and I always wanted to do/see more.  As soon as I went to college I moved to a city a couple hours away and have no desire to ever live in a rural area again.  We now live in a town (pop. 22,000) but just outside of the city (97,000) and I’m thrilled at the opportunities my son will have here - more than I ever did growing up.

I don’t want kids but if I had to choose them I’d probably choose a small town.
