what the hell is curry powder????

I'm Indian and the only time I've ever seen/heard of it is from Americans trying to make South Asian foods. I don't know any South Asians that have ever heard of or used curry powder. So what is it??

It's a spice mix. You can buy it premixed or make your own. My husband is south Asian and his mom will usually make her own but sometimes used premixed. 
You should know that south Asian cuisine is hugely varied by region.
