Paying for HSG out of pocket

My insurance won’t cover my HSG because my doctor put the orders in as ‘infertility’, and infertility isn’t covered under my plan (super annoying because imaging/diagnostics are covered under my plan, and I was told had my doctor ordered the procedure with out using the word ‘infertility’, it would have been covered and only a $40 copay). Kaiser is refusing to tell me how much the procedure will cost, out of pocket. I am responsible for 100% of the procedure.

Has anyone had an HSG with kaiser, and paid for it 100%?

*yes, I have used a website and looked up the standard price range for the cpt code in my area, and the range was 3k-12k 😞

*yes, I called the lab, and they told me they can’t give me an answer as to what I should expect price wise.

I’m afraid to go through with it and get a bill for $5k for it and I’m just trying to feel out what people have paid.

I would appreciate some input on what to expect, so i have time to decide to cancel it if it’s too much 😬
