Slip up at the Anatomy Scan

Cristina

Hello! Today was our 20 week anatomy scan. We were not planning to find out gender (it’s our third baby and we have 2 boys). During the appointment the US tech was really good at saying “the baby” and being gender neutral. But at one point before she checked the genitals, she was showing me a view of the baby’s face with its hand by its face and said “his arm”. I immediately thought she had slipped up. Then later in the appointment she asked me to look away as she was going to do a quick check of the genitals. Then she showed me a 4D view of the baby’s face and said “soooo pretty”. Which makes me pause because if she knew it was boy already, you likely wouldn’t use the word pretty for a boy right? What do you think? Do you think she slipped up earlier on and then tried to cover it up by referring to the baby as pretty? Or am I just way over analyzing and it could have been a very generic mistake?
