Introducing solids
Hi,
My son is 6 months old, I have started introducing cereal and solids for a few weeks now. So far he has had oatmeal cereal, bananas, apples, pears, carrots, and peas. I am really confused about the timing of his feedings. Usually he eats about 1-2 tablespoons twice a day. He formula feeds 4 oz every 3 hours.
When I asked other moms, they advised to give solids first when baby is hungry and then formula feed as much as he takes. They believe that baby can not tolerate formula feedings and solids until formula is decreased.
I know that his main source of nutrition should still be formula, so I am afraid to cut back especially since he’s a skinny baby. My schedule is to feed formula first and then give solids 1-1.5 hours after.
