When do kids wipe themselves

Another poster reminded me that I’ve been wondering this for some time, as I have no memory of learning how to do this as a child. At what age do children usually learn to wipe themselves and should usually be expected to handle their bathroom business on their own?

My daughter is 4. She doesn’t do a great job at wiping after a BM,  but she tries. She does fine with pee though. I started really working on her with it so that she would be ready to do it by herself when she starts school in August.

Normally by 4 by the time they go to school but every child is different

My son is 4 and tries to do it himself but he still needs help, I assume by 5 he should have it covered.
