Does putting baby on your shoulder pass as tummy time too?

I’m always burping little one but when she’s on my shoulder she can lift her head side to side.. is this classed as tummy time also?

No but it you lay down and put baby on you stomach to stomach it does. Our baby hated tummy time on the floor but laying on me she was ok for 5-10 min at a time. Thats how she learned to fully lift her head with me.

My midwife told me that it does🤷🏽‍♀️ this is what my little one used to do and he was lifting his head. He didn’t have much tummy time on the floor because he hated it. He’s now 9 months old and near enough walking! He was 2 months old, and lost all his hair so is a little bold boy😂

It strengthens their neck and core. Both of my babies despised tummy time so I carried them on my shoulder. Both were sitting before 6 months 🤷🏻‍♂️

I wouldn’t really consider it tummy time. That’s awesome that your little one is gaining neck control this way though! But having your baby lay flat on their belly helps them strengthen their back and arms as well as their neck and over time they will have enough strength and coordination to roll over. For my son that was his first big milestone and it was so exciting! He hated tummy time though, so although I still made him do it, it was only for about 5 minutes a day until he had the strength to roll if he wanted too. If you do tummy time, I definitely recommend getting a mat that has toys! They’ll get your baby’s attention and will encourage her to try and reach for it which in turn will encourage her to roll and scoot for the toys she wants. If I remember correctly (my son is a 1.5 years old now lol) I think he started rolling around 4 or 5 months old but I started tummy time maybe a little later than I should have, around 3 months old. Some moms do it way earlier than that. Around this time I also started putting my son in a bouncer, of course I had to stuff a blanket behind him, but he learned to jump pretty early on and that strengthened his legs so he was pulling himself up using furniture to aid him and was walking before he turned 1

Tummy time in the early days are to help the head shape. So yes but it won’t help baby lifting and strength.
