Are you still checked for dilation with a csection?

Question

If you're scheduled for csection can you still be checked weekly to see if there is any progress? Or is it just pointless? I've had many children but 2nd csection and its been almost 7yrs since the last csection I don't remember at all. Can you still request a sweep to get things moving or no? Just curious as I feel new again to this surgery thing.

They can check you. They checked me when I had the group B thing done because the doctor was already down there.  But if there is a medical reason for you to be having a cSection. My assumption would be that they would not do a sweep. Unless you talked about a Vbac.

It’s honestly pointless whether you’re planning a csection or not. If you’re dilated it doesn’t mean labor is coming anytime soon. If you’re not dilated it doesn’t mean you couldn’t go into labor the next day. It just doesn’t show anything so why possibly introduce infection or even have it done

They checked me when I had my group B and it was my first check-they asked if I wanted to and I said sure since we’re already down there lol
But I don’t think they will be going forward since doesn’t really matter. Unless I ask but I’m good without

I wouldn’t. Seems pointless and you’re just exposing yourself to more. Even while in labor I didn’t want that and requested minimal checks.

They checked me at every appt and c section is scheduled for tomorrow at 39 weeks. I did ask for a sweep last week bc I wanted to go into labor first but she turned me down

She asked if I wanted to be checked but it wasn’t necessary since i’m having a scheduled c section as well. I said yes just because I was curious

I will probably get checked just so I have an idea if I might go into labor before c-section. Baby is breech and I don't want to go into labor, but can't schedule c-section early enough to guarantee I DON'T go into labor and I need to be prepared to deliver in a different hospital than we'd planned.
