Owlet sock worth the price tag?

For me it is worth it because of my postpartum anxiety. People would tell me to sleep when the baby sleeps but i physically could not because i have irrational fears of my child dying if i go to sleep. So if you are like me and cant control the fact you have raging anxiety then yes its totally worth it. I stayed up for 4 days straight and i was miserable. Now i sleep everynight!

We plan to use the sock (not the video camera) and baby will be sleeping right next to me for the first 6 months in a bassinet. We are both anxious and will stay up all night worrying without it. Everyone we know who has used it has said its worth having it.

Depends on the baby and anxiety of the parents. My daughter would stop breathing randomly for the first 3 months so for her it would have necessary for her. Her ped arranged for a heartrate/breathing moniter to be covered by our insurance. Would have been a waste of money with my son.

I didn’t have it with my first and found myself waking up every hour to check if he was alive for the first month or so. Then at two weeks old he developed a lot of health problems and I wish we would’ve had it to detect his fever earlier. 
Definitely getting it with this second one. I’m buying mine second hand to save money.

Something that might interest you is the Angelcare monitor. It’s not as pricey as the owlet but it’s not a sock.. it’s a pad that goes under their mattress and detects every tiny movement from their breathing.

I wish it didn’t say total waste of money but there was no other option that I could choose. 
We looked into it as we had concerns with delivery and such but ended up getting a regular audio monitor...that died within weeks of actually using it. 
We finally bought a video monitor that will last well into his toddler years as we can see him and hear him and it’ll be good when he is ‘bed training’ in a big boy bed. 
It really is up to the mom. Every mom or dad I’ve talked to who have the owlet sock said they wouldn’t do it without it but I have no personal experience with it. 
The monitor we ended up getting was 1/3 the cost of the owlet before it was on sale. 
Do your research, you know yourself and your own anxiety/worry levels. Make an informed decision for yourself and don’t worry about what others think of your decision. It doesn’t matter about them anymore. Just you and your little one.

My husband would never sleep if we didn’t have the owlet sock. Our little girl was born with breathing issues as a complication of the c section (TTN). She had to spend the first few days in the nicu on oxygen and she still had a bit of trouble regulating her heart rate due to the complications. We got so used to her monitors letting us know she was okay we needed something like this. Our nicu nurse suggested it and we have zero regrets. Definitely worth the money if you have it to spend.
