Do you give your baby water?

I was giving my baby water since it is so hot outside. I asked her doctor and he said it’s best to not give her water. I had no idea?? So what do you give them if they can’t have water?

Our doctor said now that he is eating solids he can have a little, but no more than 4oz a day.

I offer water at meals only. You can start at 6m. It doesn’t replace nursing.

Starting at 6 months it’s fine to offer water. You don’t want them drinking a ton because they really should be drinking formula/breastmilk throughout the day which will keep them hydrated, however, it’s good to start getting them used to sippy cups and water is the easiest to put on them. We offer our daughter water in a sippy cup, she just doesn’t get it yet.

Yeah I give my 6.5m old about 1.5-2oz of water  every other day or every two days. Depends on how she’s feeling

I’ve given breast milk cold. (Warm enough for the fat mixed in). But I’ve also given him water when it was really hot out.
