Does everyone hate their in-laws?

I see so many posts here about awful in laws! A shocking amount. I absolutely adore my mother in law, she is amazing, and am best friends with my SIL (I met my husband through her) and really close with my other SIL and BIL. We all do things as a family all the time. Is anyone else like this? I’m genuinely curious.

Yep! I loveeeee my MIL. I’m pretty much best friends with her! My husbands family is pretty much one of the best family to be married into. They love me just as much as their own kids & even better they are suppppper close with our girls! I couldn’t imagine anyone hating their in laws. That would be tuff but I know a lot of people have that issue! I’m just thankful how much I get along with his whole family! 🙌🏼

Except his older sister, who I like very much, my husband’s family are all very difficult to talk to... like, can’t hold a conversation.  My MIL’s idea of hanging out with my boys is putting a show on while she talks to my husband. Never once have seen her try to play with my 3 year old. His younger sister and brother have never made an effort to see our kids, and has met the 3 year-old once (BIL maybe twice?) (though I don’t fault them for not meeting the 7 month-old)
Plus, we found out this week that my father-in-law (the only person in his family that my husband regularly talks to) is a racist. So that’s fun.

I had a very rough relationship with my inlaws from my first marriage. My current/second marriage I got really lucky and his folks are great.

My husband's mother was in prison when he was young, and when she got out never made much effort with him. She called him about a month ago asking if he got her voicemail wishing him a happy birthday. His birthday is in April. Her husband grows and sells weed from their house where she babysit a her two granddaughters. She has needles and heroine in her kitchen drawers. She never cares about what he does or says, just pretends. So no, I don't like her. I don't trust her. Will not trust her with our future children. She will not be active in their lives except at family gatherings. My husband's father is a good father and grandfather. He has some controversial opinions lol, but we've made it very clear he is to keep them to himself when he is around our children in the future. He tries. He was always there. He supported us majorly and gave us a HUGE check for our wedding to help with a down-payment on a home. He will be allowed to be around our children.
