First appt??

This is my first pregnancy and I have my very first appt today on Monday and I was wondering what exactly they did or do during the first appt??

Are you UK based? Here you will meet with a midwife who will book you in for your 12 week scan and ask you general medical questions, any allergies, take weight and height measurements, ask family medical history, ask about your personal like (what your job is and if you live with the father etc), they will also ask you what your relationship is like with the father (ie. To make sure you aren't in an abusive relationship etc). They will also give you your maternity book with all your notes and take your blood pressure. She may also take some bloods and a urine sample from you for testing. I'm not sure if it's different out of the UK

If you’re located in the US, I’m from Florida, I was able to go when I was 6 weeks. They basically establish a relationship with you. Do some blood work, ask for medical history, etc. I did a transvaginal ultra sound.

I first went to my normal doc, and they just confirmed the pregnancy with a pee test, asked me if I was trying and then referred me to an OB. My first ob appointment will be Monday and I’m just getting an ultrasound to see how far along I am since my last period was weird and then I have one on Thursday to get my blood drawn and all that.

In the USA it is mostly tests to verify no infections (STIs or UTIs), and lots of talk about family history. They may or may not do a transvaginal ultrasound to confirm age and heartbeat.
