I don’t think that’s cheating. I myself messaged a guy on social media not long ago. We caught up on life. I told him about my engagement. We discussed school and careers as it had been like 5 years since last contact. And that was literally it. It’s not a back in forth thing. If her were to do the same I wouldn’t be the least bit concerned
