Which birth control is best?

Question

I'm 33 weeks pregnant and I'm going on birth control after my son is born. I've never been on birth control before this is my second baby and we don't really want baby #3 anytime soon. I'm looking for a birth control that will regulate my period not take it away. I don't mind having to take a pill everyday or changing a patch every week. I admit it be nice not to worry about anything and just be protected. But I've heard so many horror stories of all 3 but I don't want to get my tubes tied so this is what I have to do. Which should I choose?

If you can’t decide on a birth control just use condoms. I would personally go for the pill because I’ve heard so many bad things about iuds dislodging and causing more harm than good.

The patch works best for me! I’ve never tried the pill. The patch was the first birth control I went on at 18. I wanted to try the IUD after a year because I’m VERY forgetful and wasn’t always consistent with the patch. I had the hormonal IUD for two years and didn’t really like it because it took my period away, then brought it back and gave me horrible pelvic pain at random times during my cycle. I got it out and got back on the patch and I love it. It keeps my period exactly on time every single month. And just to add, one of my friends just had a baby a few months ago. She got an IUD placed and is already having trouble with it. Her body started to expel the IUD and she decided to have it removed and get on the patch instead!

I was on the pill for like 10 years with 0 issues. It was great! After i had my son though when i went back on it I was constantly forgetting to take it. Got lucky and didnt get pregnant until i was ready for #2. After my daughter i was planning on discussing IUD options, but ended up getting my tubes tied since I was done after #2 and my doctor offered it with my c section. But if you aren't done I would maybe discuss low hormone or no hormone IUDs. With an infant remembering to take my pill was a complete joke lol

I went from the pill to the patch I honestly the pill best. I hate the patch I recently went on vacation last week and from all the swimming I did the patch fell off on the second of swimming and when I put the patch on yesterday I started bleeding. Tomorrow I have a appointment to switch back to the pill. I think the pill would be best

So, I personally have heard more horror stories on an IUD. My best friend got pregnant with an IUD and lost her entire Fallopian tube on one so I think I’m going to do the patch. ￼

It really depends on what works best for you!! When I was on BC, I chose the pill as it was easy (for me) to take pills at the same time every day. Plus, getting my period every month was a nice monthly reassurance that I was not pregnant lol. I was also freaked about having something in me (arm or otherwise). Both of my sisters in law got pregnant with IUDs so I wasn’t too confident with that personally. It was also really easy to come off of the pill when my husband and I decided to begin TTC and I didn’t have to make an appointment to get something taken out. Some cons, however, (depends on the person and the pill, I didn’t have issue except with lower libido) would be the possible side effects such as weight gain, lower libido, etc. I also benefitted from the pill in that it decreased the intensity of my period symptoms and even made them lighter/shorter (though I think technically they weren’t periods but rather withdrawal bleeding every month when I took the placebo pills).
