Sitting up?

Can babies be put in a seat (sitting up position) at 4 months? Are there any precautions to this? Can it be too early? My entire in law family think I shouldn't put my baby in a high chair. They've been telling me this from 2 months. My baby's now 4 months. And they still say it. Lol But I see a lot of parents here are sharing pictures of their babies sitting up. I'm confused.

Just like other posters said, as long as baby is holding their head up in a seated position I’d feel like that is fine. Although like any other “container” for a baby you want to minimize time in it to encourage proper physical development and free movement playtime. I use a high chair slightly reclined and without the table portion while I’m cooking dinner or preparing anything in the kitchen.

My son will be 4 months on the 16th and we have a bumbo for him I think it’s okay as long as they can hold their head up

We waited until our baby could hold his head up and that was around 3 months.

I would not unless they can hold there head up very well. Also not good for them to be in a chair like that for long periods of time so maybe just for a little

My baby is 3 months and I put her in a bumbo seat frequently. She’s content in it for a little while. She can hold her own head up and has no issues keeping her posture. If she was slumping over, no I wouldn’t. I would have no issues with putting her in a high chair.

I think you can put them up if you want and they're stable enough. I would. If your high chair can recline, that might help. My daughter is a month and a half behind (due to being born prematurely) so she's not quite ready for that yet.
